1435 Capital Management is pleased to announce that Curtis Lee has joined the firm as a Senior Partner. Curtis brings decades of experience across finance, investment management, and economic development, adding significant depth to 1435’s leadership team.
Prior to joining 1435 Capital Management, Curtis served in a senior role at the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA), where he played a key part in driving initiatives that supported innovation, entrepreneurship, and capital formation across the state. Before his tenure at the NJEDA, Curtis co-founded and founded several investment management firms within the hedge fund industry, where he developed deep expertise in illiquid and liquid securities, portfolio management, investment and operational due diligence, and capital raising.
“Curtis’s track record of leadership and focused investment strategies, combined with his commitment to advancing New Jersey’s innovation ecosystem, aligns perfectly with our mission,” said Ben Jen, Managing Partner at 1435 Capital Management. “His unique perspective from both the public and private sectors will help us further accelerate the discovery and development of the region’s most promising startups.”
At 1435 Capital, Curtis will focus on the continued development and management of the Garden State Innovation Fund, ecosystem engagement throughout New Jersey’s startup community, and strengthening the firm’s fund management operations. His efforts will support 1435’s goal of expanding access to early-stage capital and increasing collaboration among innovators, investors, and public agencies across the state.
1435 Capital Management remains dedicated to empowering founders, investors, and innovators across New Jersey by fostering access to capital, guidance, and resources that strengthen the state’s startup and technology communities.
